ABSTRACT
Objective: Demonstrate that BIODEX system 3 can be used in the quantitative proprioceptive evaluation in shoulder. Method: It has been evaluated 34 patients (age range of 15 to 40 years old) for kinesthesia and statesthesia of the shoulder with a designed technique for a isokinetic equipment, isolating the patient senses (visual, auditive and vibration from 45 to 60 Hz). At 15°, 45° and 75° of external rotation angle, speed of movement of 2° per second, performing 3 tests per variable. For kinesthesia we considered the mean range of motion detected, and for statesthesia the mean absolute error. Results: In statesthesia the lowest range of registered error was at 15° (3.7° and 3.15° right/left respectively). Demonstrating that error detection is lower at a lower degree or external rotation. For kinesthesia the values of movement detection were lower at 1.2°. Statesthesia had a significative correlation with age at 75° in women (r = 0.61, p = 0.03). Conclusion: Kinesthesia and statesthesia evaluated with BIODEX system 3 is reliable, with significative statistical values. Statesthesia behavior was as previously described.REFERENCES
