ABSTRACT

Adolescence is the transitional stage between childhood and adulthood, and is marked by changes, physical, emotional, psychological and social. It includes ranges from 10 to 19 years. The biology of the cervix, prolapse of endocervical mucosa occurs by enlargement of the cervix by the action of sex hormones. The physiological ectropion is most vulnerable and comes with histocytological squamous metaplastic epithelium abnormalities. Factors associated with HPV to develop cervical intraepithelial lesions, are early onset of sexual intercourse, multiple sexual partners, multiparity, smoking, sexually transmitted infections, the vitamin deficiency, some hormonal factors and the exogenous or endogenous immunodeficiency. Early initiation of sexual intercourse and sexual risk behavior are important factors in the development of intraepithelial lesions of the cervix that may develop into an invasive cancer. Over 80% of the LEI-BG and 100% of LEI- AG are associated with high-risk HPV. The diagnosis is made by organic cytology, colposcopy and histology. Cervical cancer is highly preventable and treatment should be limited to women with high-grade intraepithelial lesions as most cases of low grade or progress spontaneously normalized. Surgical therapy should be analyzed to make personalized and meet the specific information required by each adolescent.
