ABSTRACT

Material and methods: To know some surgical indicators from Hospital Angeles León, a descriptive, observational and retrospective study of surgery program between 2006 and 2013 was made. Quantity surgery numbers, day/frequency, annual distribution, classification: by specialty, by sex and age divided by decades. Percentages, SD and χ2 was used. Results: From 20,991; (74.28%) procedures; (N = 15,594) were surgeries, with Index of 5.34 surgeries/day; annual –x of 1,949; electives 86.78% with annual –x of 1,692; emergency surgeries 13.22% with annual –x of 257. Between four specialties occupied 65.24% of surgeries rooms; G&O 23.07%; General surgery 16.27%; Orthopedics 13.35% and Urology 12.39%. The rest of specialties had a 7.7% to 1.1% range. Sex classify showed females 60% and males 40% with relation 1.5:1: the fourth decade of life is the principal age for surgeries in both sex. Conclusions: The surgery Index from Hopital Ángeles León is 5.34 surgery/day with annual –x of 1,949 surgeries; being 86% electives surgeries; the fourth decade of life is the principal age for surgeries in both sex, with female predominant and relation 1.5:1.
