ABSTRACT
Meckel’s diverticulum is a rare, congenital abnormality of the midgut, with an incidence of 2%; which is usually found in the antimesenteric border to 100 cm from the ileocecal valve, being a frequent site heterotopic gastric, pancreatic or colonic mucosa. Treatment of Meckel’s diverticulum in an asymptomatic patient, remains a controversial topic; however, in the presence of symptoms surgical treatment is necessary. With the advent of minimally invasive surgery there are three possible surgical approaches available today: laparoscopic diverticulectomy, laparoscopic-assisted diverticulectomy or open diverticulectomy. The aim of this paper is to present a case of symptomatic patient who underwent laparoscopic-assisted diverticulectomy in a tertiary hospital unit.
