Non surgical treatment of pancreatic collection in severe acute pancreatitis. Case presentation

ABSTRACT

Acute pancreatitis is a great abdominal drama, of varying severity, select the appropriate treatment requires identification of patients at risk of complications and death, no method detects all patients will develop complications. The focus ranges from early surgical treatment to medical treatment in intensive care units whose main purpose is to correct hypovolemia and arrest or regression of systemic inflammatory response syndrome. Attention should be by a multidisciplinary team. Prophylactic antimicrobials have been controversial; in developing countries with limited resources, this therapy may be beneficial. It is presented a woman with 36 years old, suffering from severe acute pancreatitis with pancreatic collection, she was told no interventional medical treatment and antibiotic prophylaxis having a favorable outcome with complete resolution, who was entered in the Unit of Intensive Care of the General Teaching Hospital in Placetas on October 2012.
