ABSTRACT

Eyebrows can have alterations in shape and density. Flaps, island flaps and different size grafts are the classic treatments. The hair from the eyebrow is different from hair of the rest of the human body. They have a short anagen period, they decrees in thickness from the root to the tip and they are deposed in angles from 10 to 30 degrees to the skin. So, to find a donor site as much similar as eyebrow hair and to achieve a non-visible scar, we choose as donor site the scalp over the ear.
Once resected the donor site with local anaesthesia, we cut the hair under microscope so to obtain a graft with an only hair. We introduce the hair with 20G needle or microblades. We take special care in the orientation and angulation of the hair when grafted. Also it is immerged in platelet rich plasma for a better implantation. We estimate 150 to 200 grafts per eyebrow. Seven days after, the grafted hair falls to give place to a new one 90 days after.
Our casuistic is from 68 patients; most of them are women. Over five years we have had satisfactory results, none infection, three second surgical review so to optimise the hair density. One only patient expressed herself unsatisfied.
