ABSTRACT

The university faces big challenges to fulfill its social mission; for instance, it has a great commitment with a project which guarantees the full development of the new generations, preserving our identity and Cuban distinctive features; the extra curricular activities of the university should be the expression of close university-society integration. The Medical Sciences University Site from Caibarién municipality designed and applied a strategy having a community projection with the objective to develop solid values in the students. The strategy started in 2008 and gets up to the present times; It comprises different activities which contribute not only to the strengthening of the students ‘values but also to the modification of health standards in the community in a positive way, as well as the consolidation of the university-community relationship.
