ABSTRACT

The term acute anterior uveitis refers to the inflammatory process that take place primarily at the anterior chamber of the eye, characterized by a sudden onset and limited duration. Of all cases of episode of uveitis, most are cases of anterior uveitis, and HLAB27- associated acute anterior uveitis is the most common identifiable cause. This disease tipically presents as a male aged between twenty and forty years, with sudden unilateral ocular pain and redness that can be accompanied by hipopion, blurred vision, and photophobia. The average duration of symptoms is 4-6 weeks, with propensity to unilateral alternation recurrence and 65% of patients suffer ocular complications. HLA-B27 associated acute anterior uveitis may be associated with seronegative spondyloarthropathies, ankylosing spondylitis is the most commonly associated.
