ABSTRACT

The combination of tuberculosis and human immunodeficiency virus infection is still one of the biggest health problems all over the world. The impact of this co-infection is severe. The human immunodeficiency virus infection leads to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection; in this sense it provokes the infection progression of disease in a 50 %. Tuberculosis increases viral load and accelerates progression of human immunodeficiency virus infection towards acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, and consequently, death. IHV/AIDS pandemic is one of the mai causes of the reappearance of tuberculosis. The increment of many people suffering from both diseases signifies a great risk for the tuberculosis transmission in general population. Universal access to an effective prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this disease related to human immunodeficiency virus could prevent deaths due to this cause in co-infected patients.
