Sequence of Murphy. Real value in the acute appendicitis

ABSTRACT

The acute appendicitis constitutes in our means the first cause of the surgical interventions of urgency. To specify the most important aspects in the acute appendicitis it was carried out an observational, descriptive and prospective study of the assisted patients and operated on with the diagnosis of acute appendicitis at 10 de Octubre Surgical Clinical Educational Hospital ( from October 2012 to February 2013 ). The universe was constituted by 76 patients, being the sample 59 patients that they fulfilled the inclusion approaches and exclusion. The affected ages were from 18 to 27 years with an affectation of 44, 0%, the pain in grave iliac right was present in all the patients, with a variation in the rest of the symptomatology. 74, 5% of the patients didn't present the sequence of Murphy and in 93, 2% the clinical diagnosis coincided with the discoveries for pathological anatomy. The youngest patients were those more affected by this illness, appearing the pain in grave iliac right as the most important symptom without being related with the sequence of Murphy, however, it was a pathological clinical correlation in most of the patients.
