ABSTRACT

Objective: characterize the actual situation of online catalogues of the libraries network of the University of Havana.
Method: a descriptive study was conducted. Documental analysis was used and visits to the libraries were organized during may-october 2014 to verify the presence of variables as access possibility, presence of help system, presentation of outputs, system used, interaction possibility of the search system.
Results: the catalogues of the library network of the University of Havana require a deep redimension so an integral evaluation could be of great help for identifying punctual items that should be changed in each one.
Conclusions: although the catalogues of this network give better options than the traditional catalogue concerning principally a better approach in access points as well as the dynamics of the retrieval process, they still could give better options for the users of the organization.
