ABSTRACT
Congenital heart diseases are the most common malformations in Mexico. Single ventricle disease is estimated to be 1% of all congenital cardiac defects among infants. We report the case of a four-year-old boy with a single ventricle, transposition of the great vessels, a common atrioventricular valve, and situs ambiguus, who underwent Glenn and Damus-Kaye-Stansel-Álvarez surgery. He was subsequently admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the «Dr. José Eleuterio González» Hospital with severe pulmonary hypertension and heart failure. These complications have been reported to be the most frequents in patients with delayed surgical treatment at older ages, as in the case of our patient. He was discharged from our hospital 20 days later with a suitable functional status.REFERENCES
