ABSTRACT
Mitral valve repair is an alternative to treat mitral regurgitation. This has shown to have many advantages over mitral valve replacement. Since 2006, AHA/ACC recommend mitral valve repair in asymptomatic patients without left ventricular dysfunction, pulmonary hypertension, on sinus rhythm if mitral valve repair feasibility rate is higher than 90%, and operative mortality is lower than 1% for a specific surgeon and hospital center. We describe here the first case of mitral valve regurgitation in an asymptomatic patient successfully treated with prophylactic mitral valve repair in the state of Chihuahua.REFERENCES
