Dental traumas in permanent teeth in the odontology emergency service in Melena del Sur

ABSTRACT

Introduction: dental traumas can happen at any age and sometimes brings the fatal loss of teeth and emotional pretuberations of deep situation in people who suffer from them.
Objective: to describe clinical and epidemiological aspects of dental traumas in permanent teeth in the odontology emergency service in Melena del Sur.
Methods: a transversal prospective descriptive observational study was carried out in in the period from January to December, 2013. The universe of study was integrated by a total of affected patients by dental traumas. The information was collected by interviews and oral examination. The obtained information was taken to a form of gathering information and the results were presented in tabular way. Percentage was used as summary measure and as statistical test, Pearson Square ji, the level of reliability was pre fixed in a 95% and the statistical package EPIDAT version 3.0 was used.
Results: the 9-11 group as the most representative. A reason of masculinity of 3:1was obtained, violence reported only the 2.7%, the 44.5% had only one affected tooth.
Conclusions: the 9-11 group and the male sex were the most affected. The main etiologic factor was falling down. The highest number of patients had only one affected tooth. Non complicated fracture resulted the most frequent traumatic lesion in all age groups.
