ABSTRACT

The population's aging is the increase of the proportion of people of advanced age on that total population, including the working one, for what it becomes necessary to study for the improvement of their quality of life. It was carried out a study of traverse court to a sample of 117 workers of the nickel company "Ernesto Ché Guevara" of Moa, Holguín, with the objective of designing an algorithm for the precocious detection of changes in the ocular apparatus that they could be predictive of premature aging in the workers object of the study. A demographic characterization partner was realized, of the workplaces and of the risks of occupational exposure, describing the changes found in the physical exam and the ophthalmologic Diagnostic. It was determined if they are capable, not capable or capable with recommendations for their workplaces. The data were processed with the statistical packages SPSS 18 and Microsoft Excel, the Square Chi of Pearson was applied to determine the statistical significance from the discoveries to the physical exam to outline the algorithm. 83,0% turned out to be masculine, of color of white skin 49,0%, the age group 45-60 years it was majority, the occupations of more incidence operators of plant (21,0%), mechanics industrial (14,0%), sinter (13,0%) and brigade bosses (11,0 %). The diagnoses were: dysfunctions of refraction, 100%, esclerohipertensive retinopathy, 24,0%, pterigeon, 15,0%, blefarochalasis, 4,0%, and a group of characteristic alterations of the third age were in 68,0%. These changes are picked up in the international literature that are however ophthalmologic affections presented with more frequency after the 60 years, but they were also observed in patient with less than this age, for what we can think about an algorithm that workers that present some of these changes: bags, wrinkles and/or esclerohipertensive retinopathy serve us as prediction of premature aging in these workers. There were capable for work without recommendations 62%; another group (35%) with the must of using glasses and 3,8% non capable to carry out the current tasks.
