ABSTRACT
Introduction: The gallstone disease affects humans and it is the surgical entity that most often afflicts the populations of Western and industrialized countries.
Objective: To determine whether cholecystectomy is a safe teaching method applicable to emergency and elective procedures.
Material and methods: Patients in which laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed by the principal investigator in the period from January 2014 to December 2015 were review.
Results: On average in each case we performed a 77% of the technique suggested by SAGES, and left a 23% risk of making a mistake during these surgical procedures.
Discussion: Talking about a safe cholecystectomy means to refer to a culture of safety, is talk about a culture of safety applied to surgical procedures which seeks to minimize complications in the laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Conclusions: What we can probably say is that the common bile ducts injuries does not occur when a particular surgical technique is used, such as the critical view of safety and the common bile duct injuries is caused by misidentification of biliary structures, that, from a practical point of view, is sufficient.
