ABSTRACT
Single port is an alternative to conventional laparoscopy surgery that use multiple ports (or multiport device) through a single incision in the umbilical scar in order to hide the surgical wound. Since its introduction, several clinical trials and meta-analysis have studied the advantages of single port appendicectomy which agree that it is a safe and efficient alternative with excellent cosmetic results, but its secondary results are still controversial.
Case report: We present the case of a 37-year-old female patient who studied who was diagnosticated with uncomplicated acute appendicitis and was treated by single port appendicectomy. In the postoperative no pain was reported by the patient who progressed adequately. In a follow-up at two weeks, the patient didn’t show complications and reported a highly satisfactory cosmetic results.
Conclusion: Single port appendicectomy is a safe alternative for the management of uncomplicated appendicitis that offers an aesthetic result with a high patient satisfaction.
