ABSTRACT

Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (HPS) is an acute abdominal emergency in infants, and one of the most common cause of vowel obstruction in infants. The clinical diagnosis relies on palpation of an olive-sized mass in the right upper quadrant of an infant with a history of non-bilious projectile vomiting. There are studies that show that in some cases is difficult to diagnose just by physical exam and history, nowadays the imaging modality of choice is the ultrasonography.
