ABSTRACT

To describe the most frequent radiological findings in the Computed Tomography of the lumbar spine on patients with non-traumatic back pain, by reading the radiology reports in the San Juan de Dios Hospital between the period 1 July to 31 August 2012. Data collection was carried out in the service of Radiology of the Hospital San Juan de Dios, for about 2 weeks, own reports for each patient were obtained by the specialist in Radiology and Medical Imaging in charge, which were stored in the computer system of the service. Radiologic findings in the Computed Tomography of lumbar spine frequently were: protrusion and bulging with 41%, followed by disc herniations and degenerative changes with 22% each, spondylolisthesis and spondylosis with 6% and 1% respectively, spinal stenosis with 4%, and finally 4% presented with normal radiographic findings.
