ABSTRACT

As one of the main objectives included in the program for the treatment with occupational therapy applied to patients with sequelae of Encephalic Static Lesions, we elaborated an activity system to increase the width and mobility to articulate the shoulder. This program was applied to 20 cases with the following characteristics: normal intellect, hemiplegy or hemiparesia with evolution time from 0 to 5 years. With this system we carried out an experimental study to demonstrate their influence during two months of treatment. We performed an initial and final goniometrical test for in the flexion (LEIS), extension, abduction and adduction of this articulation to compare results. The patients improved considerably. A more significant degree of improvement was demonstrated when we applied the Wilconxon Matched Pairs statistical test.
