ABSTRACT

Abnormal uterine bleeding is a common presenting sympton in the medical practice. A methodical history, physical examination, and laboratory evaluation may enable the physician to rule out causes and to find a diagnosis, which vary according to status reproductive. The etiologies of abnormal uterine bleeding should be classified using the PALM–COEIN system. Medical management should be the initial treatment for most patients, if clinically appropriate. Treatment includes medical or surgical options according to underlying cause, response to initial treatment and patient’s desire for future fertility.
