ABSTRACT

Objective: this research was aimed at elaborating a questionnaire to evaluate children’s emotions.
Methods: a quantitative, correlational study consisting in the following stages was carried out: elaboration of a questionnaire of children’s emotions, assessment through the criterion of specialists and the pilot test, as well as, analysis of its psychometric properties. This study used an intentional sample of 19 specialists; nine of them were experts. The randomly selected sample of primary students consisted of 101 for the piloting and 382 children from Villa Clara, Ciego de Ávila and Sancti Spíritus provinces. The used instruments were a semi-structured psychological interview, a survey of evaluation addressed to specialists and the analyzed test.
Results: a questionnaire of children’s emotions was designed from the methodological and theoretical systematization of the evaluated variables, and from its appropriate evaluation on the part of the specialists. There were obtained adequate interitem correlations, reliability indices with mean values and a coherent factorial structure in the second stage of the instrument, which was composed by three factors organized in the following register: pleasant emotions, unpleasant emotions and anxiety.
Conclusions: the elaborate instrument has appropriate psychometric properties to evaluate emotions in Cuban infantile population.
