ABSTRACT
Introduction: Crawling is the baby’s quadruped displacement and gives them the opportunity to acquire experience and schemes of movement necessary to motor maturity. Crawling represents an advance in the baby’s independence. Objective: To develop a dynamic model to evaluate the crawling. Material and methods: Prospective, cross sectional and descriptive study. The sample included eight healthy patients, four males and four females from 8 to 13 months of age. An optoelectronic system was used for motion capture. Stance and swing phase and velocity of four limbs were obtained. Results: The average crawling velocity was 0.21 ± 0.08 m/s. The stance phase of thoracic limbs was 73.31 ± 5.82% right and 71.17 ± 5.12% left. The swing phase of thoracic limbs was 26.69 ± 5.82% right and 28.83 ± 5.12% left. The stance phase of pelvic limbs was 60.15 ± 1.70% right and 53.81 ± 0.88% left. The swing phase of pelvic limbs was 39.86 ± 1.70% right and 46.20 ± 0.88% left. Conclusions: This model provides quantitative data that allows the determination of crawling values in healthy children.REFERENCES
