ABSTRACT

Suspect of Primary Immunodeficiency in first contact physicians. An exploratory study. The level of knowledge among physician primary care is crucial to decrease the morbi-mortality rate of primary immunodeficiency diseases (PIDs). To evaluate the basic knowledge of primary immunodeficiency diseases among physician primary care in primary care settings. An explorative study was conducted; the PDIs knowledge was evaluated by test from the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology among physicians primary care. The analysis included descriptive statistic, and Chi-square test was used at 95% of confidence level. The average knowledge among 200 physicians primary care was 6.09 (SD 1.18); the 43.5% had a satisfactory level of knowledge, 24% of them had administrative jobs and 6.5% had a postgraduate academic level. Physician primary care had not sufficient knowledge of PIDs for a good diagnosis, and continue education course is necessary to increase them.
