ABSTRACT

Introduction: Facial injuries are frequent cause of consultation in the emergency department. These wounds may be associated with fractures of the facial skeleton and systemic lesions delaying primary care; however, to avoid consequences must be addressed as soon as possible and when patient conditions permit. Objective: To establish sequences proper diagnosis and treatment in a patient with facial trauma in the service of maxillofacial surgery. Case Report: Young adult male patient with two stab injuries, involving soft tissue and bone, located in the left lower third of the face, affecting 90% of the lower lip. Conclusion: The diagnosis and successful treatment depend on the knowledge of facial anatomy, the basic principles of healing and proper management of lesions in anatomical structures involved.
