Barrett’s esophagus, methylene blue, radionuclides.

ABSTRACT

We label methylene blue with radionuclides beta and gamma. This new radiopharmaceutical was probed in experimental animal for radiochromatography, radiotoxicity and genetics; after that we take scans in 12 patients with gastric reflux (six of them with Barrett’s disease), in 3 selected cases we probed the therapeutical effect of methylene blue with beta emission. All the patients were controlled with six months of clinical and laboratorial follow-up without harmless or adverse reaction to the new compound. Because of the good results, we propose the new radiopharmaceutical and method for the diagnoses, control and treatment of Barrett’s esophagus.
