ABSTRACT

Fibrolipomas are an uncommon histological subtype of lipomas. They are considered benign mesenchymal neoplasms. Fibrolipomas of the perineal region occur very rarely. We show the case of a 45-year-old woman who came in because of a non-painful tumor in the left vulvar and pararectal region, 30 x 25 cm, with a 20-year evolution. Imaging studies were performed by computerized axial tomography, observing the nature of the tumor in an inconclusive way, so that a wide resection with a primary closure was performed. The surgical specimen was a well-defined tumor, 20 x 30 cm, with ulcerated borders and wide vascularization, with vessels up to 3 mm in caliber. The histopathological study reported fibrolipoma of the perineal region. Tumors of this type in the perineal region can be confused with other diagnoses such as condyloma, due to the low frequency with which they occur and in the literature there are few cases reported.
