ABSTRACT

The working objective is to show the importance of contents of student sociocultural diversity in directive’s updating training in Latin-American School of Medicine (ELAM). Method: A documental review was used for this article. Admission department’s data base was analyzed as well as vocational and guidance training (DIFVOP) which characterizes the student population. The authors explored bibliographic sources related to these subjects. Updating curricula for 2016 and 2017 directives were analyzed, as well as the department for Sciences, Technology, Research and Postgraduate studies at ELAM in order to get information on learning needs identified. ELAM executive staff are responsible of this medical university; they run many processes developed and are also responsible for different resources, mainly, the human; they play a role in the comprehensive education of the students, therefore, it is necessary that this teaching staff updating involve socio-cultural diversity aspects. Conclusion: This updating is necessary and relevant, be scientifically designed given that it contributes to the training of human resources, as well as to medical training with scientific knowledge and ethical, moral and humanistic values.
