ABSTRACT

Introduction: Metrology is a relevant topic endorsed in the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution. In order to contribute to the approach of the directors at the National Health System to Metrology, a bibliographic review is carried out to answer questions related to conceptual, organizational and institutional elements of this subject at an international, regional and national level. Development: Questions such as What is Metrology? How is it classified? When and how is it institutionalized? are answered. Through this resource it is expressed that Metrology is the science of measurements and that according to its scope of action it can be legal, industrial and scientific, as well as reference is made to its institutionalization in the countries and in Cuba. Final considerations: The questions and answers developed on metrology, is a contribution to the enrichment of the metrological culture and quality of directors at National Health System.
