ABSTRACT

Introduction: The incorrect use of the means of protection in the area of imaging, causes negative effects on the health of the personnel who work there. It is important that they have a wide knowledge on the subject, so that in this way they become aware of how to avoid it. The main Objective of this work is to deepen the knowledge that professionals of the imaging departments of the hospitals of the Pinar del Río municipality have about the use of adequate means of protection and the effect of radiation. Method: To do this, carry out an extensive literature review on the effects produced by radiation and the measures required for good radiological protection, theoretical and empirical methods such as documentary analysis, systematization and historical-logical were used. Conclusions: It is considered important to prepare the health professionals who work in the Imaging services of the different healthcare centers, in order to promote health work habits that reduce the probability of unnecessary exposures.
