The development of theoretical and practical abilities in medicine and nursing careers through the use of educational software

ABSTRACT

Introduction: An educational software related to the Family subject was developed for undergraduate students in Medicine and Nursing degrees, using computer as a teaching tool based on the need to develop habits, knowledge and skills of these contents, as well as contribute to the integral training of future graduates and to the way of professional performance according to technological facilities and current social requirements. Objective: to develop a teaching method that favors the independent study of students based on the development of theoretical and practical skills that raise the quality of the teaching-learning process. Methods: descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study developed at the Julio Trigo López FCM from November 2015 to December 2016. Results: a multimedia was developed that allows navigation through seven options, whose content includes the fundamental aspects of the Family subject, which includes an interactive module that allows the evaluation of students' theoretical and practical skills. Conclusions: the implementation of the multimedia projected as a result the adequate improvement of the theoretical and practical professional skills of the students of the mentioned careers.
