ABSTRACT

The II survey of sexual and reproductive health of Costa Rica shows the early onset of sexual life, a high percentage of unwanted pregnancies and little use of long-term contraceptive methods. A survey was conducted to identify the concepts and practices of physicians on intrauterine contraception in nulliparous women. This survey showed inconsistencies between the theoretical concepts and clinical practice of the use of intrauterine contraception in this population, since despite considering them safe, effective with few side effects they do not use them.
