ABSTRACT

Stress or General Adaptation Syndrome conceptualized by Hans Selye last century, performes an important role in daily life of every individual. Unfortunately for the concept itself and thus for its purpose, more in a negative than in a positive way; in spite of Selye conceived the terms distress for a negative stress and eustres for a positive one. Nevertheless since then and nowadays, stress is considered something destructive for the organism. In this essay the intention is to emphasize in its positive role. It is considered likewise the possibility of using Martin Seligman’s Positive Psychology and Aaron Beck’s Cognitive-Conductual Therapy in its case; getting our main goal that is de-stigmatized stress and understanding at all its function into the individual, that could benefit him. In the other hand is obvious the necessity that in general individuals have to be in constant activity, beginning with a cell through the whole organism. Thus, stress can be extremely useful and utilitarian to reach that goal and its function will be de-stigmatized and even more, we’ll have an extra profit.
