ABSTRACT

Fungiform papillae could show hyperpigmentation in dark phototype patients. It is characterized by the localized and circumscribed pigmentation of the papillae. Pathogenesis is unknown. We present the case of a 13-year-old patient with multiple hyperchromic macules on the tongue. The diagnosis of pigmentation of fungiform papillae was confirmed by dermoscopy. A brief review of the literature is presented.
