ABSTRACT
In the ethical formation process of the medical professional, initial importance should be given to the formation of
virtues, before even that of principles. Virtuous formation serves to prevent many future problems. Formation within
this paradigm of principles does not avoid the appearance of problems, but is useful in the solution of those that do
arise, especially with regard to the most complex problems of clinical bioethics. Professional perfection includes the
truth and the good, scientific knowledge and morality; the clinical physician should aspire to both binomes.
