ABSTRACT

In the present article i intend a brief recollection of my experience as a university professor for more tan four decades. This allows me to reflect on the close connection between my academic work and my own personal history, in differents stages of my life and trough personal, political and social spheres.
Although I relate my experiences since my entry into the university community and, later as a teacher at three UNAM institutes, dedicated to teach psychology, I highlight my work at the FES Iztacala, where the close link between teaching theoretical framework and community social service are distinctive elements of the educational model.
I also intend to analize my political participation in key moments of university life -such as the student strikes- as a formative experience that illustrates the close relation between the population real conditions of subsistence and the need of an academic education in accordance with them.
Thus, when my teaching work is nearing its end, Y want to thank my “alma mater” for all its teachings and for the great opportunity it has mean to be parts of her.
