ABSTRACT

Studies on cocaine and the determination of its metabolites in the individual, nowadays are a very important tool for the application of justice, since several statistical studies have shown that a high percentage of illicit acts are carried out under the influence of cocaine For this, kinetic studies of cocaine are carried out to determine the condition of the accused at the time of the event. The post-mortem studies of individuals deceased under cocaine consumption, are even more important in order to determine a possible pharmacological synergism, based on the kinetics and dynamics of cocaine and its physicochemical properties to guide forensic science regarding the possible modes of action and interaction of the same, at the same time to determine concentrations of cocaine and its metabolites in blood and hair, the latter a very recent research matrix where the storage of metabolites for a long time is observed. In this way we comment on the actions of cocaine on different systems to make known the origin of the alterations as a possible cause of the performance of criminal acts or faults that are sanctioned by the common legal systems.
