ABSTRACT

Six Sigma is a quality management tool that incorporates the improvement concept, based on the variability measure of a process compared with some stablished analytic goals. The purpose of this study was to determinate change over sigma of immunochemistry mensurands, with improvement and standardization strategies in Laboratorio Médico Echavarría. A retrospective descriptive study was made and the internal quality control reports were used between January and August of 2018, to get sigma measurement of controlled immunochemistry mensurands nationally. In all the programs, an increase of sigma measurement › 3,00 was demonstrated in August compared with January, besides a total increase percentage of 14.3% and general decrease to those below 1,65. These results showed that implementation of improvement and standardization strategies have allowed the achievement of improved sigma measurements, that pointed to most trustable results, decrease of control reagents retested, false rejections and acceptances, calibrations and time taken for error analysis.
