ABSTRACT

In this paper we analyze the work we sustained as teachers in an educational practice setting as part of the formative process of psychologists at the National University of Mexico, Iztacala campus in the context of a new curricular change. In this frame we are involved with the teaching of theoretical and methodological fundamentals to psychology students, with a cognitive focus, so they can apply their knowledge and participate socially with young high schoolers in their own environment. The institution is called Tele High School since they use television for their classes and we report all the different academical and personal problems the young pupils from different levels, show. We explained two phases of the process: planning and intervention and present qualitative results which we obtained from the review and survey of our students reports and field dairies that our students worked on as they took this course. Finally, some considerations and reflections are exposed about the psychologist’s role in these highly problematical schools from our educational system.
