ABSTRACT

Ultra-low intersphincteric anterior resection with colo-anal anastomosis in a second time also called Turnbull-Cutait technique, is a treatment option for lower rectal cancer. With this intervention, the performance of a protective ileostomy can be avoided. We present the case of a 57-year-old male with a history of rectorrhagia in whom a welldifferentiated invasive adenocarcinoma of the rectum ulcerated from the lower rectum was diagnosed. This article describes the surgical technique used, the postoperative evolution of the patient and a brief literature review.
