ABSTRACT

Objectives: to evaluate the usefulness of Coaguchek XS Pro to determine the Protombine / INR time and compare the values of the International Normalized Ratio obtained by electrochemical method, in correspondence with the reference method.
Methods: a descriptive study of 420 patients with adjusted doses of oral anticoagulants was carried out in the haemostasis laboratory of the Clinical Laboratory Department of the “Saturnino Lora Torres” Provincial Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, from May to June. 2016. Student’s t-test and correlation measures were applied.
Results: from the total of samples 388 cases 93.2% coincided for a high level of significance and a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.93 was obtained between the electrochemical and electromagnetic methods.
Conclusions: it is concluded that the determination of the International Normalized Ratio using Coaguchek XS Pro is satisfactory compared to the standard method in the therapeutic range, although the higher the value of the International Normalized Ratio, the greater the differences between them.
