ABSTRACT

Boerhaave syndrome consists of a spontaneous and longitudinal esophageal rupture with a considerable difficult diagnosis and a high mortality. The gold standard in management is with open surgery techniques (thoracotomy) but the minimal invasive techniques have proven better postoperative outcomes with a considerable enhancement in morbimortality. Even though, low incidence of the disease has made its study a difficult task and its necessary further evidence for an adequate management with proper recommendations for this syndrome.
