ABSTRACT

Hydroa vacciniform lymphoma is a rare, usually fatal, lymphoproliferative disease caused by the Epstein-Barr virus that affects children in Asia, Mexico and South America. Cutaneous manifestations mimic a benign photodermatosis. Cutaneous lymphomas in children are rare. The data available are usually from adults, whose incidence is 0.3/1,000,000 inhabitants. In them, the skin is the second location of extranodal primary lymphomas. We report the case of a male patient of 13 years with generalized cutaneous involvement, triggered by sunlight. A skin biopsy was performed, which led to the diagnosis of cutaneous hydrophilic lymphoma. He received treatment with 2 cycles of CHOP (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, doxorubicin and prednisone) and later with COMP (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, methotrexate and prednisone) obtaining a partial remission of the skin lesions. The report of this case is considered significant since there are few cases reported in the international literature and in Bolivia we do not have a real case history of the presentation of this clinical picture.
