ABSTRACT

Case reports are detailed narratives that illustrate a diagnostic problem, which is experienced by one or more patients. They may lack on value in the context of evidence based in medicine but they serve as a very useful tool in the training of resident physicians of different specialties, especially in dermatology. Clinical case reports seek to share information relatively easily for medical, scientific or educational purposes. This article reviews its characteristics, objectives and limitations, and also provides information on how to prepare them according to international quality standards.
