ABSTRACT

Background: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency and dengue virus infection is an uncommon clinical occurrence.
Clinic case: An 18-year-old male patient with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency that developed a severe episode of hemolytic anemia during a dengue infection.
Conclusions: Dengue management is only symptomatic with rest, acetaminophen, hydration, and care for complications that ensue. Similarly, hemolytic crises in G6PDdeficient patients require only supportive management with hydration and folic acid supplementation during the crisis.
