ABSTRACT

The curricular transformations in the Medical Career Curriculum must be accompanied by innovations in the class, where the seminar is weighted by its formative potentials. In order to analyze the seminar, as a type of class of the subjects that are part of the Biological Bases of Medicine discipline, a Documentary Review was made that includes the analytical programs of said Discipline and the corresponding subjects; In addition to a survey of 27 ELAM teachers who teach them. The seminars occupy 12 and 28% of total class hours in the subjects of the aforementioned Discipline. For 37.1% of teachers, the main objective of the seminar is the evaluation of learning, while 40.1% consider that it should include all thematic content. It disagrees with these criteria, arguing that the fundamental didactic function of the seminar is the systematization and deepening of contents - which include the most complex logical operations of thought - without ignoring the evaluative function with a formative character. In the continuous improvement of the Discipline Biological Bases of Medicine, emphasis should be placed on ways of orientation, execution and control of the seminar, aimed at achieving an academic space for systematization, deepening and application of knowledge, in addition to obtaining feedback information on the educational teaching process.
