ABSTRACT

Septic arthritis is a rare disease in adults, but its urgent and correct diagnosis will be essential in the prevention of the devastating injuries it produces. Hip arthroscopy is one of the most evolutionary surgical procedures in recent times, its indications, surgical technique and complications are described. It allows the diagnosis and treatment of septic arthritis in the same surgical time, with less morbidity for the patient and less recovery time compared to open procedures. The case of a patient with trauma to the left hip is presented, with nonspecific clinical data; with cabinet studies suggestive of infection. Hip arthroscopy was performed as a diagnostic method and treatment and it was diagnosed positive for septic arthritis.
