ABSTRACT

Atopic dermatitis is the most frequent inflammatory dermatosis, with a peak of prevalence in early childhood, the evidence highlights a higher percentage of involvement in industrialized countries. Among the main characteristics of this chronic and / or recurrent disorder, pruritus, eczematous dermatitis, facial involvement and extensor regions in early childhood stand out, while eczema and lichenification in folds is more common in children and adults. In recent years, there has been an advance in the knowledge of pathogenesis, focused on the Th2 pathway, but with a significant participation of the Th22 pathway and the Th1 and Th17 axes, of dysfunction of the epidermal barrier, pruritus and JAK / STAT signaling, this progress has conditioned innovations in topical and systemic treatments.
