Experiences of active researches against the coronavirus with Medical students in Holguín

ABSTRACT

Introduction: This work presents some of the authors' considerations regarding the active research for COVID-19 at the Family Medical Office # 9 of Policlínico Manuel Díaz Legra in Holguín municipality. The background in our country, the concept of active research, the peculiarities with the epidemic and its behavior in a health area, are addressed. The preliminary results of the investigations carried out and the early diagnosis of confrontation with COVID-19 are revealed. The requirements for the effective use of the researches conducted by the basic health team (BHT) of the Family Medical Office (FMO), together with the teacher and medical students, are also presented.
Method: The method followed was the historical-logical, supported by the documentary review technique. The daily reports published by the Ministry of Public Health (MPH), corresponding to the days covered by the study, between March - May 2020, available on the website Infomed, were consulted. In addition, control and monitoring models, tables and graphs were prepared to explain the situation at the health area of the Medical Office in the period under analysis.
Conclusions: The effective application of the active researches allowed prevention, identification and early admission of the cases in their different variants and low mortality in the office area as a consequence of the coronavirus. The participation of Medical students influenced these results. The significance of clinical examination, together with the epidemiological one and the consistency with available scientific evidences, was proven.
