ABSTRACT

Campylobacter is a small Gram negative bacillus, within this genus are Helicobacter and Arcobacter. It is a cause of intestinal infection in humans. Campylobacter infection is usually mild and self-limited, it is usually self-limiting in immunocompetent patients, but in patients with some morbidity it can have complications and endanger life. Guillain-Barre syndrome continues to be a frequent complication even in patients without previous morbidity. Maintaining adequate hydration and electrolyte correction should be the focus of therapy. Antibiotics are not needed for most cases of Campylobacter gastroenteritis. Primary prevention measures that mainly include a simple way to avoid the disease.
